How to Measure

Generally, value of U-value and thermal resistance can be calculated from estimated value of spectral characteristics of each glass composing a sealed insulating glass. However, in the case that the calculation has difficulty because of inserting special materials to increase insulation capability and mixed inert gas rather than dried air, U-value should be directly measured. The procedures to measure U-value are as follows; insert a sample of sealed insulating glass between the cooling tank and heating tank and seal the sample. Then, measure calories lost when temperature difference is maintained at Δ 20℃ (base temperature of winter nights).

Sample Size
  • 1300mm(L) X 980mm(W) X thickness of sealed insulating glass (H)
  • 2 pieces / 1 sample
Applicable field
  • Evaluation of insulation capability of sealed insulating glass
  • Parameters for cooling and heating loads in construction design.
